Yeah I did change the original, I dind't know that calibre just downscale images, so my changes were lost in the new epub after a convert them. But I do think this is a problem with the way kobo reads the books or interpret the images. I'll just have to double the resolution on all my images from now on. It will make the ebooks bigger, but I guess it's a good thing I can expand the storage SD card.
