How to jailbreak Kindle Paperwhite 2 (fw 5.7.4)

It is 5.7.4 and I think Oasis only have this version.

And what other context are needed?

I'm not sure I get the point of @geekmonster correctly.

It will probably work on any other kindle with 5.7.4, like a PW2...

EDIT2: It looks like the same method as used for the K5 jailbreak *should* work on the Oasis. Has anybody tried it? I wish I could afford a device to test on -- if I had one I think I would have a jailbreak for it already. Somebody should try renaming a genuine amazon update file -- I would PM NiLuJe about specific details but his PMs are disabled... ;(

First things first - -
Check your Kindle/Firmware combination to see if
;fc-cache
in the search bar works.

That is required to be working for the 5.6.5 jb to be used.
And disabling that is what Amazon/Lab126 did to 'fix' the Kindles against this jail break.

I.E: They did not fix the browser exploit, just one of the jb requirements.

In that case, the outcome of the PM exchange is basically: 99.9% chances of nope.
Longer version: that was a comment regarding the older K5 JB, and @GM had missed the cheap trick Amazon used to workaround it, which is why things looked hopeful at first glance .

yes, if you installed the hotfix.
I did it on my PW3 and jailbreak survived.
