You seem to be under the mistaken impression that the Bookerly font is in some way connected with the improved typography of the KFX format. It isn't; Bookerly is just a font, like any other. It has nothing whatsoever to do with typography.

Just to be clear: The advanced font control on Kobo's is enabled for the fonts supplied on the device. This works for all books whether they are sideloaded or not, kepubs or epubs.

You can also add your own font. The advanced options will not be enabled for these. But, there is a patch that will enable the options.

I actually have Bookerly on both my Kobo's and I've added the patch to allow me to make it darker. I'm code phobic but I found the patch very easy to enable.

Thank you for your reply. I have now bought a Kobo Glo HD and applied the patches. Everything seems to be working on sideloaded books and fonts.
