Calibre has never "demanded" that you update. It will tell you what the current version is, but it was never require you to upgrade.

Assuming everything works for you, and you don't need a new feature or bugfix from a newer version, there is no reason to bother updating. Many people don't update for months or years, and that is completely OK. If that is your only objection to using calibre to store the books you aren't reading right now, then I really think you should reconsider. ![]() |

Thank you, HarryT and eschwartz for your clarifying posts about not having to update Calibre every time it presents an upgrade!
I think I will take the time and effort to study Calibre again in more detail. My present way of storing my Kindle book collection is not a good and reasonable one, I can see that. When I buy a new Kindle - a Voyage - I think I will use Calibre from the beginning. And if I have the time, I will also rearrange the content of my PW2 using Calibre. Even if this is a departure from the topic of this thread: Are there any new rumors about a soon to come new model of Voyage? Last edited by mortenandersen; 03-25-2016 at 09:38 AM. |

Calibre still has frequent updates but doesn't require you to update - it only notifies you that there is a new version - and you can turn this off under options.
Edit: (sorry - I didn't see page 2 of 2 and replied to a comment on page 1 that had been answered on page 2) Last edited by BZee2; 03-25-2016 at 05:56 AM. |

Amazon is pretty tight-lipped about when they release new models. Although when they do release them, it is usually around the end of the year, to capitalize on the holiday shopping season. |
