I finally got around to testing the Night Shift feature last night while on my front porch, though unintentionally. It was dark out and thunderstorms were heading in my direction so I was checking the weather radar apps and texting a friend on my iPhone. I have Night Shift set to come on at 10:00pm and go off at 7:00am, and otherwise I'm just using the default settings. I wasn't paying attention to the time nor was I planning to test Night Shift, but at 10:00pm it activated. Yes indeed, on my dark porch it does make reading/looking at the screen much easier on my eyes with the warm tint. I was looking at the screen when Night Shift activated and immediately noticed how much better it was than the blue tint. Now whether this feature actually makes it easier to fall asleep is another story. I remain skeptical about that claim, but who knows...

Agreed. I'm skeptical about the sleep claim, but it is easier on my eyes in dimmer light.

I like the night shift too. More than I expected to! It's not as orange as I anticipated which is good.

Couldn't you change the scheduled times to something like 23.55 to 23.50. Would that work?

You can toggle it easily at any time: slide open the quick settings tray, tap the Night Shift icon.

The schedule seems to operate from midday to midday, so setting a start time of 12:00 and a finish time of 11:59 should certainly work.

I left it on the default color setting but changed the schedule to Sunset/Sunrise.

I like it very much, I have had f.lux on my MBP for awhile but never thought of installing it on my phone and/or tablet.

I ended up making my night shift a little warmer. After I had used it for a couple of nights, I couldnt really see a difference.

I set it to be warmer too and am using the sunset/sunrise schedule. I've noticed that f.lux on default settings is a lot warmer than what I have set on iOS, but my MacBook Pro's screen isn't as bright and is a little warm to begin with.

I don't buy the science that it helps you sleep better, but I know there has been research on color, what is the better way to display text, cold vs warm, etc which I accept more.

I have it set in the middle and then I've also tried a little lower. It definitely hurts my eyes less when I wake up in the middle of the night and look at my phone. Also I like that at night the white on black text is warmer. I also have mine set from sunset to sunrise.

I have mine set in the middle for warmth amount too. That seems to work well. And I'm basically having it activate between sunset and sunrise too.

I tried it on my MBP but found it to be more of a strain than the brighter light and kept finding reasons to turn it off until I just uninstalled it.
