Go to the home page and search for a random string. If the "Text in Books" tab on the results page is highlighted, tap it. If it says "X items not yet indexed", then you know that some books have not been indexed. Tap that text, and it will show you what the items waiting to be indexed are. If they've been stuck for a long time, delete them and re-add them.

You're very welcome.

You don't have to search for a random string, by the way; you can search for anything you want. The only reason that a string of random characters is better is that it avoids filling up the results page with actual search results.

Yes. I did check. By using the search feature you described.

I also kept count of each load, and made sure they were done indexing before I then loaded them into collections. I found it that when working with collections it was easier to load them by batches, then when done load them into collections.

That way I could use the 'Load All on this Page" instead of clicking on one check box at a time.

I don't think anything got stuck loading, since the problem would creep up over time and it was never over the same books. All would start out well, then degenerate on very large numbers.

That's why it took almost a week to get through them all.

Hello Harry...

I suspect we both end up with more or less the same end result in selecting the 'next' book we are going to read. You like to have a choice from amongst a large (-ish) number of books.

So do I. I have some 14000 books in my Calibre library. I have done some significant sorting and categorising of those books, and the 2 x 25 books which actually make it to my Kindle, are the result of that process. In addition, there are a thousand or more, pre-sorted in Calibre ready for the next refresh.

The opportunity I forgo is choosing from the larger number when out and about, which obviously you can do. For me, that choice was made in selecting the smaller reading list. The plus for me is that my Kindle is a far more responsive tool. Barring the emergence of a 'must read' book, my reading list is pre-sorted, and I know, not only which 25 books I plan to read, but the order in which I plan to read them.

Now, that may sound a little disciplined, but it is surprising how diverse a list of 25 books can be. Having made my choice, I enjoy looking forward to those books on my reading list. And I am not averse from adding the occasional 'must read', should the inclination arise.
