I deleted the folder used previously from the external SD.

I used CC to create a folder on external SD and moved my azw3 and mobi books there.

I tried to delete the azw3 book using CC but got an error. The error flashes up and goes away so quickly that I can't read it. I only have one azw3 book.

I deleted a mobi book successfully. This book was by an author that had multiple books - maybe the azw3 failed when it tried to delete the folder?

I connected to the cloud and tried to download the mobi I just deleted from CC and it failed.

I am going to assume that the problem is caused by the bug causing CC to sometimes ignore a specific folder assigned to an extension. That bug makes it very hard to trace exactly what is happening. There is enough to fix now, so I will make a new release.

I moved the mobi and then the azw3 books, then verified with ES explorer that the 2 formats were really in the folder on the SD card. I deleted the one azw3 file using CC then connected via the cloud, and I was able to download the book.

It is very possible that the bug ensured that the books are not where you think they are. I suggest that you:

• verify you are running V5.0.0.2.
• run "Books with missing files" to be sure that CC finds the books where you think they are.
• use Formats and Folders to re-establish the folder for both mobi and azw3.
• look in book details for an azw3 book to be sure that its path is what you think it should be.

If after doing these three things you still cannot delete the azw3 book, please send me a debug log. I don't know what could be going wrong, but perhaps it will help.

I can delete the one azw3 book stored in the "special" folder on the SD card using CC's book details. I don't know why you can't. I still suggest you try the 4 steps, and in particular be sure you are running V5.0.0.2.

I am running V5.0.0.2.

Books with missing files show a mobi book is missing. The screen shot shows where the missing book is - in Konrath, J. A. (1). The other Konrath, J. A is missing the period at the end and contains a book that is not missing. Amazon seems to have a problem with a folder when the last character is a period, but only on the external SD. I will create another post for that - I thought it was only ES File Explorer

I can't successfully move all the books back to internal. See screenshots. All books with problems have an author with a middle initial, which should create a folder ending with a period.

Maybe my SD card is faulty? I will look for another.

@Purple Lady: I think I know what might be happening. On an android device, main memory uses a "modern" file system that is fully capable of supporting arbitrary names. However, SD cards usually use FAT or FAT32, which has all sorts of strange rules. One rule is that files (directories) should (or perhaps must) not end in a period; one spec says that "trailing periods are ignored". The rule arises because of how FAT file systems treat file extensions. It appears that you are seeing the effects in that the names on the disk don't have the periods even though CC thinks they should.

The CC template processor removes trailing periods from the path, but it does not remove trailing periods from slash-separated segments in the path. This is arguably a bug, and a long-standing one at that.

I can fix it, but that will have the unfortunate consequence of changing paths for books in main memory. This can lead to books being duplicated. I don't see any way around it.

On my Tab S most of my older books(May 2015) have an underscore instead of a period. It looks like more recent ones just dropped the period. I've always used the external SD for my books.

On my HD 8, I've been trying to make a backup of my books to the external SD. When I wiped the device and copied the books back to the internal storage and restored settings I had missing books. Now I know why.

The books in the widget list are all epubs. Testing your theory I set a default epub app via CC - Book Details - Read and the phone didn't hang this time when using the widget. Unsetting the default caused it to hang again so for my phone setup it appears to be 'does happen' not 'can happen'.

FYI I haven't had any problems (so far) using the app pick list if I open the epub from Book Details with no default set.

I've never previously set an epub default as I have many epub reader apps and would prefer to continue picking my 'app du jour' from the list each time if possible.

Does it still happen with V5.0.0.2? I thought I fixed it. If it does still happen then I need another debug log, please.

Quite reasonable. CC should (and will) support this.
