Speed is determined by an assortment of factors, and 64bit vs 32bit isn't normally one of them, unless you are in a server configuration.

I can think of very few people who currently need a 64 bit machine on their desktop, and 3GB of RAM isn't a huge limitation for the normal user either.

I did the switch to 64 bit a few months ago. every device has supported 64 bit drivers except a 10 year old printer and my sony reader.

it shows a serious lack of proper support by sony
