Completely agree about Google Play Books. People dismiss it because of how it used to be, but it's definitely been improving over time. And the simplicity of simply uploading your books once and being able to download on demand to any device is really convenient. Auto-syncing of your notes and highlights to Google Drive/Docs is a great feature, as well (https://support.google.com/googlepla.../6209737?hl=en).

I'm astounded that iBooks doesn't have proper library syncing at this point. With all the emphasis on iCloud and CloudKit, etc. the fact that your library doesn't live in the cloud with iBooks (except for those books purchased through iBooks) is a disappointment.

And, BTW, the new Night Light mode they just introduced in Google Play Books is pretty nice.

There are certain things that Apple does that really has me scratching my head. The duplicate bug (where iTunes match struggles with syncing duplicate titles) has been in iTunes for a long time and IMPO is fairly signification, yet it has neither been fixed or formally acknowledged. The fact that audiobooks are handled differently on the mac than they are on the iPhone/iPad/iTouch is totally baffling to me.

Agreed. While I have to admit I didn't figure out Gerty. Apparently it is supposed to scroll somehow, which definitely isn't what I want. I want to turn pages when I am ready to turn pages. It is interesting that it is supposed to load from Drop box. I wonder if it synchronizes that way. I won't know unless it comes up with standard page turning.

I never got Marvin to load from Calibre and just drop .epubs into iTunes instead, which is probably why it won't synchronize.

What matters for syncing is that you set up Marvin with Dropbox. It's not about where your source your books. And you have to click the sync "button" as it doesn't just automatically sync when you open a book. Works great for me.

Which e-book software synchronize?

The great thing about Google Play Books is that you can synchronize side loaded ebooks between iOS devices and android devices. It is the only major ereader that I have found other than Kindle that does that, and it supports ePub. So I read on my iPad and can sync to my android phone as well!

I also like the Literata font quite a bit. The Night Light mode (which is curiously very similar to what Oyster created before getting bought by Google - coincidence? Nay, I think not) is really nice too.
