You can buy the Kobo Glo HD from Chapters in CA for $99 (CAD). The exchange rate pays for the shipping. To be honest, I just cannot see getting a Touch 2.0. The screen is not as nice and there is no front light.

Oh, you'll need a case.

Kobo has a bigger non-US market so they will be around.

Just an update, picked him up a touch 6". It was on sale and if he likes it and keeps up with it I can always upgrade him later. I'm assuming I shouldn't have an issue loading my Sony ePub books on it.

If your eBooks are DRM free, no problem. If your eBooks have DRM and you register the Kobo with the same ADE account, no problem.

Sony uses .lit files. I don't think most of them could read .epub.
I think you're better off with a Kindle or a Kobo.
I prefer the 0.8" extra screen estate of the h20.
If I had to only get a 6", it would be a battle between the cheapest Kindle Paperwhite, or the more expensive Kindle Voyage; since pretty much all these 6" devices (with glo light/front light) look almost the same.

Amazon has a better paid library, but I like the Kobo for easier reading of free ebooks (epub, etc...).
I also like on Kobo that you can download getpocket.com articles on your H2O, and read them offline, which I don't think you can do on a Paperwhite or Voyage.
getpocket is a website with articles, that range from a newspaper article sized, to a small book size (usually short articles).
It's like between reading a forum, a small book, and a newspaper article...
Really nice!

It takes about an hour, to upload about 300 articles on your device, which probably take on average 5 to 10 minutes per article to read.
I highly recommend an H2O, but probably could live with the Glo HD as well!

My 505 supported epub (I believe out of the box). I believe all readers since the 505 had epub support. Weren't earlier readers offered a choice to send in their readers so they could get upgraded to epub support?

Sony originally start off using LRF (no DRM) & LRX (LRF with DRM). Sony added ePub to the 505. Every Sony Reader since then has had support for ePub. The 500 had to be sent back to be fitted to support ePub. MS Reader was never supported.

Given that Jerry is using Sony Readers, a Kobo Glo HD that's on sale at Chapters for $99 (CAD) makes the most sense since it also handles ePub and by registering it with the same Adobe account, any DRMed ePub can be shared.

The price has gone up to CA$119 plus shipping at Chapters, while right now it's on sale at Kobo for $US99 with free shipping. I assume perkopolis still works for 10% off, plus you get another 5% by going through ebates.com. For those who missed the Chapters sale, Kobo is the place to go. I don't know how long it will last.

Interesting,
I have found that nearly every free book at Kobo is also available at Amazon.
