I just did a test with a Reader that had the update and one without. The unit appears to be the same speed as the older one without the firmware update. The updated unit was maybe a tenth of a second faster.

I just converted an RTF t LRF using rtf2lrf and embedded Times New Roman and it page turns a lot faster then it previously did with an embedded font.

My 505 seems much faster in terms of rendering standard PDF's. The menu and index system seems a little quicker as well.

I recently upgraded the firmware and find my 505 much 'snappier'. It is no longer frustrating to use.

Kudos Sony!!!

same here, i notice loading and reformatting both from internal memory and memory stick much snappier after the update, i have a 4gb memory stick and it used to take a long time to reindex after each sync.
