That's right. Raised caps are affected by the line height limitation of Kindle. To have a simple thing like a raised cap in Kindle you have to juggle

That's fascinating. In recent years I've noticed that books from mainstream publishers tend to use raised caps in lieu of drop-caps. I've noticed it because I don't particularly like it! For myself, I've switched to a few words in small caps, bolded.
