No
It is asking if I want to connect to the WDC (port 9090) or the Content Server (port 8083), even though I initially chose Content Server from the menu
(Only 1 content server. Only 1 WDC service. both on the same computer )

This is production CC on a TAB2

WDC is set for Auto IP (not auto connect)

The CC content Server aliases CONFIGURATION now has a 3rd entry:calibre wireless device client (on myHostname)

Can I delete that? How please?

When you ask CC to connect as a wireless device, CC broadcasts on the network to see what content servers are out there. If more than one answer then CC asks you which server it is to use. The bottom line: if CC asks then *something* on your network is answering. I don't know what and I don't know why, but I am 99.9% sure that CC is being given more than one answer.

Note that when CC does its broadcast it accepts answer from mDNS (zeroconf, or apple whatever-it-is). If there is a machine on your network that has memorized and is repeating a response that no longer exists then CC will give you that response.

Would it be possible / easy to have the connect button automatically perform a default connect action if only one connection mode was configured, rather than having to choose the one active menu option? I realise that this might not be easy depending on how menus are implemented in Android.

Cheers,
Simon.

I am looking at how to turn connect into an action instead of a menu if exactly one connection type is enabled. Doing so requires a bit of a hack, but as I having it working in a test case I am confident that I can do it for real in CC.

One-click heaven

The update (v 4.2.8.4 - 198) has ended the confusion and delivered much relief. The connect with one-click option is fantastic. Thanks so much for listening and for the time and effort it took to add this new option.

The idiot relative also says thanks.
