Simple switch might be easy to fix. In sleep and power setting can select automatically go to sleep and power off after your set time including never. I have mine to never power off. But somtimes you will need working power swithch. Never tuning off or sleep does affect battery life much.

Update: I think, suddenly, positive or negative wire of my wall charger hit those stuff on the motherboard. Could it be why it's no longer turning on?!

I have disassembled it and I can directly touch power switch/indicator, so that's not an issue at this point... the issue is that it's again stuck!

Well, I don't know why, but after last time when it went to sleep, and I had to pull out the battery, it doesn't turn on at all, even using the trick @oren64 taught me!!! Arrrrghhh.

It was a short-lived happiness! Later, I'll keep on trying to see what's up with this Kobo and will report back.

Most likely you fried your motherboard, but try connecting the wires to another places in the board.

Thanks.

Oh, frying is that simple?
For a quarter of second, when one wire was still in one those 4 holes, the other wire barely touched the board stuff!

How can one measure if a motherboard is fried? With a multimeter...

The "stuff" is capacitors, resistors, transistors..., that works in low volt and current.
so when the wire touch them it close electric circuit with 5V and 500mA so they failed/"burnt".
my best advise buy a new ereader.

Edit:

I don't know which test you can do check if the motherboard is fried With a multimeter.

The four pin in the board are the same as in USB port so if you connect them to a power source the board need to work.
did you try wire the other places?

The thing to do is contact the seller and say that it's not the battery that's bad and you want your money back.

I did, but I don't think it'll work or it's worth the effort.
And yes @oren64, I learnt my lesson hard way
