That's true HarryT, I do like how the Ipad feels well balanced when holding them, I also like the square shape. I have the Air 1, and your Air 2 is, I think a little lighter.

Glad you found the Ipad mini you like best cvkemp, Let us know how you like the mini 4.

The Air 2 is a little lighter yes: about 30g (1oz). Not much in it.

Like a couple here, I have both an iPad Mini and a regular iPad. I do most of reading at home with the iPad air. I use the mini for reading at lunch and reading in bed.

Well I ended up ordering the IPad Air 2 with 128 gigs. Also ordered a keyboard and case so it can be like a laptop if needed.

Well I told everyone that I worked with that after I retired I was going get and IPhone and a IPad and ditch Microsoft for good. This is just one more step in that direction.
I am also using linux on my laptop now. But my wife has windows on her two work computers. She has her own quilting and embroidery business.

Congratulations on your purchase! I think the iPad Air is a better choice if you plan to replace your computer with it. But it's a very personal choice anyway, everyone has different needs.

LOL! I see the better half won that discussion! Good choice, either way IMO.

BTW, I grew up in Round Rock just west of you during the 1960s back when RR had about 2500 people, Hutto a few hundred at most, and the whole county probably less than 40,000. In those days there was a cotton gin at almost every country crossroad between RR and Hutto. A bit different now!

This area has grown so much Hutto now is 17000+. I grew up in the Ellis County Texas on a farm that my grandpa and dad share cropped. I moved to this area in 2007 when I went to work for Dell. I was retired in 2014 it was like they pulled all my teeth, but now that I have had a chance to get use to retirement I am very happy.

I grew up in Williamson where you are, but spent most of my adult life in Travis. Austin to be precise. After I retired I moved to southern Tarrant County to be near family. I hate it here, but not much reason to be in Austin with the outrageous cost of living down there! Way too expensive. Time was it was an economical place to live, but that was before the DOT COM era. I miss the hill country though. This prairie up here is too flat and boring!

I grew up just a little east of there. I believed that it was the only place on earth to be until I went in the Navy and so most of the USA and a lot of the world. I love the oceans, and mountains. But I would take any where in Texas before any where else in the USA.

It is a convenience, for sure, but convenient it has been for me. You might realize greater resale value as well.

When it comes to Apple products, that could be a long time. I've had my iPad2 for 3 years now and it gets used a lot every day. Still going strong.

Like you, my plans are to ditch Windows for Apple as well when we are fully retired and no longer need the Windows software we use for our business accounting. (As I type this on my Windows laptop, LOL! I do intend for this to be the last Windows laptop we own.)

I have had the IPhone 5s now about a year and half, and find it great. What I have come to love most of all is that Apple seems to do a much better job of updates and security fixed as compared to android.
So I have come to realize that you really do get what you pay for. I am looking forward to getting the IPad air this next Tuesday.

I have both the Mini 3 and Air. I love each for different reasons. The Mini is great in my bag as I barely notice its there. The Air is great for sitting at the sofa or reading in bed when I want that larger screen. And if I'm reading outside, I use my Kindle e-ink Voyage.

I've just upgraded my mini 2 for a 4, and jumped to the 128GB storage. Planning to sell my 2 and a HDX 8.9 to help towards the cost (whatever I get for them). First time I've not bought from Apple, I went to John Lewis and got it with a three year Warrenty and 3 years accidental damage for an extra £30. I was a tart as well and got the gold

Nothing I've ever had beats an iPad for ease of use. The Air is too big for me now but that's hubbys size, he will upgrade next year when hopefully they'll upgrade the Air 2.
