You actually mean that the microUSB cable of the receiver is thin like a film? In that case I think that's fine and the lid can be closed with some effort. And, yes, you triggered my curiosity, Ken! ![]() I will give a try on this. |

I'm really exciting with this challenge!
I'm out of luck with my local stores. I hope those -damned- capital controls in my country comes to an end asap and I'll be able to buy a pair of Qi to experiment with. Some transactions succeed, some others, not... (At least I just made a successfully transaction with UK for a cover for my H2O). I push my luck again on that. Thanks, Ken! ![]() |

That's not so hard to decide...
You need a 6.8'' Carta screen and waterproof, go ahead to H2O. You need a 6.8'' Pearl screen and stay away from water, go ahead to AuraHD. And last -but not least- the Glo (I think you're mention on HD, right?) is a perfect 6'' compact device with hiress screen. IMO, if someone gives me those three choices then I will choose the first one.... Again! ![]() Last edited by WolfBack; 10-22-2015 at 03:24 PM. |

Borrowed a brand-new Kobo Aura H2O from a friend. I have to say, personally, it's not for me.
Back design, huge bezel-screen recession, and immediate turn-off for me: touching with glove is worse than Mini. On Mini, I can do stuff even with a pencil, but not on H2O. But to be honest, comparing eInk screen is just (mostly) marketing gimmick. My mini (Vizplex) is almost as good as my Kindle DXG and Keyboard (Pearl) as good as H2O (Carta)! So, guys and gals, what's important is that you 'read'. Don't let Vizi, Pizi stuff get in the way of your reading. |

And perhaps the H2o was faulty, because I have absolutely zero problems with sensitivity (gloves etc)... I find the H2O far more comfortable to read than my Aura, for example. Last edited by Desdinova; 10-25-2015 at 05:19 PM. |

Aye, H2O does not work well with fingernails or pencil ends. The IR grid just does not have that much resolution to recognize those.
You need something with a soft tip, something that has a larger contact surface than hard round things that only really touch at one small point. So even though it's not a capacitive screen, the pens made for capacitive touch work well here also. |

I think I'm more sensitive (if you pardon the pun) to the increased resolution. I have macular holes in both eyes, and the increased resolution of the screen is a definite plus point for me when I am reading. And we're definitely polar opposites on the size issue ;-) If anything, I'd love an 8" reader. I find the H20 nearly the size of a lot of paperbacks I read, and an 8" would be more like the textbooks ;-) Best of luck looking for your successor reader ;-) |

My point was the focus should be reading rather than hunting for the latest and the greatest. I personally put a 3 device limit for myself (just to fulfill different reader size needs). |

My use is exclusively reading epubs converted with calibre. I've ordered an H2O, and will be selling an 8" Onyx Boox.
Why? The SW is not nearly as well-developed as Kobo's, and the backlighting is 2011 all over again (it's uneven and the LEDs at the bottom of the screen are much brighter than the rest of the screen). Among the SW aspects I prefer on the Kobo vs. the I86ML+, it has a real English dictionary, crashes less often, and you have great control over font and size. On the Onyx side, it's real Android, so you can run other applications a lot more easily, but it starts to feel like an eReader kit to me. |
