You have to do a 32-bit Windows 10 upgrade and then make a USB or DVD 64-bit Windows 10 install to boot from and install in place of the 32-bit Windows. Then once that's done, all the software can be resinstalled using 64-bit versions were available. If the computer only has 4gigs of ram, the Calibre conversion can be tried again. But if it fails then moving to 8gigs is the next step. |

And wouldn't it be so much simpler if we all just stuck with what I said earlier -- "reinstall the 64-bit version of Windows" -- then we don't have to assume any particular generation of Windows, and the reader is left to decide whether to track down Win7 64-bit or Win10 64-bit. Our (mine and theducks) recommendations do not change just because someone might choose to upgrade Win7 ==> Win10 in addition to (and as a totally different topic from) upgrading the bitness. EDIT: I refuse to so much as dignify your reply with a response. Speak for yourself... I am done with this line of inquiry. ![]() Last edited by eschwartz; 10-13-2015 at 08:12 PM. |

britannica, like some bibles and dictionaries, may be a particularly tough convert even with 64 bits.
So share the source e.g. via dropbox and get a friend to try it before you go to the time and expense of changing your os or get an epub source ( making the whole thread redundant) ? it seems ( from googling britannica epub) you can grab the epub volumes from project gutenberg, with or without images as you please: e.g. http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/34312 |
