These are not issues for me, but there would be nothing to discuss here if we were all of one opinion.

The iBooks app has one advantage: it syncs between iPhone, iPad and Mac without any hassle (loading books from iOS to Mac is a bit of a hassle though) and you can review annotations or even copy text from the Mac app... only system that allows this as far as I know...

I have a soft spot for Google Play Books. You can upload your own epub and PDF and read them with most any browser or with the apps for iOS or Android. And it has a really slick system for exporting your notes (to Google Docs). One issue for some that there is no way to organize the content and you have to use search or sorting (recent, title, author) to find things. I generally use search to find things in my Kindle library and so I don't think it this would be an issue for me were I to need to use it for something.

Mantano Reader has an associated (paid, starting at $10/year) cloud service for storing/syncing books. Supports OPDS catalogs as well. Apps for Android and iOS.

The margins on the kindle app on my 6+ are 1/8". I personally don't want them smaller than this. The side margins on the Iphone app are 1/4". I thought some concrete numbers might have more meaning than too larger or to small. I don't use other reader apps, so I have no idea of the size margins for those.

The Kindle app tops that by syncing between any supported OS and device.

I think that depends on your user profile.
If you read your own books (personal documents in Kindle-speak) between iPad and Mac, I think iBooks is better suited as it let's you a) actually read your own books on Mac (with sync, including annotations, unlike with the Kindle app) and b) does not prevent you from copying text from them.
If you merely want to read Amazon purchased content, Kindle is fine (except for the copying)...

I'm not sure what you mean by "prevent you from copying text". On Kindle for PC, when you highlight text in a book, a menu appears with three items: "Add Note", "Copy", and "More". Selecting "Copy" does exactly that: copies the text to the clipboard. Is Kindle for Mac different?

Yes it is. It does not allow copying of text...

Yes, it does allow copying. I just tested it. But maybe publishers can choose to disable it? I understand this is the case with Adobe DRM, so maybe it's the same with Amazon.

Are you and Florence perhaps using different versions of the software? Could it be that it's perhaps enabled for books without DRM, but not for books with DRM?
