HarryT,

For some bizarre reason I do not seem to find such a button

I apologise if my act was interpreted as a violation of redistributing copyrighted material.
I only intended to share the materials with only one person, but I find it a bit difficult to work with private messages ( sending and replying ). This is the reason I only posted them only after someone agreed to help me.
Thank you for deleting them. I will be much more careful in the future!

Cheers!

Please do not do it again or you will be permanently banned from MR. If you simply want to ascertain the suitability of a device for reading PDFs, there's lots of public domain content that can be used to test with.

Thanks.

Once zoomed in, transition to the next page was fairly easy--I had to double-tap the page to return to original size, and then tap the right side of the screen and the page turned. On the new page, I had to zoom back in.

All in all, it was about what I expected--not overly pleasant, but possible. Of course, I think it's still easier than reading a paper newspaper on a train.

Dear Shalym,

Thank you for taking the time to test these two files

I guess these information will help everybody that has an online subscription for these newspapers and intends on finding a better reading experience other than a phone or pc.

I guess it's easier to read because of the size of the kindle compared to the actual paper newspaper, but I don't actually have a clear understanding of how does a page look like on the kindle screen if you say that "it's unpleasant". I know it's hard to come close to a mobi novel like experience.

If you do not mind, could you please tell me for both files how many columns can you see on the screen when you zoom to max ? Does landscape help in any way ?

Cheers !

I understand and will not do it again and also I do not encourage others to post this type of material. I will use onward content found in public domain.

In portrait, when I have it zoomed to a level that I can read, I see one full column and part of another. In landscape, I can see two columns side by side...unfortunately, I still had to pan because the columns were longer than the screen in that case, and I couldn't fit the whole column on one screen.

The reason I say it's unpleasant is that I have to pan all around in order to read. Of course, I would never want to read a paper newspaper unless I could lay it all out on a table, anyway. Back when I used to ride public transportation every day I used to marvel at the people reading newspapers and wonder how they did it.

Thank you for your comments Shalym

It's the same with the Iphone 4 I currently use to read when I'm on lunch or whatever; I have to pan every couple of seconds.
It can be a bit tricky to read a paper newspaper in a crowded place especially if you have a bag or umbrella with you
I am a bit surprised and disappointed that highlighting words was not possible since the pdf was well made on Paper 1. Perhaps you ran into a table or box or smth...

The idea of getting a kindle for reading pdf newspapers came after asking myself what was the most convenient way of reading content from international quality newspapers.
Since subscribing for the printed versions can be felt as quite expensive in most countries (and the arrival time be delayed by one day) (although reading from paper is the best), and digital subscription, although easy to access, can become tedious at one point to read on an lcd/led/ips screen, I had to look for some way to combined only the positive aspects

Wish you the best !

Actually, I tried in all different areas of the PDF, and I believe that I can safely say that it isn't possible to highlight in either of the PDFs that you posted.

What news paper are you trying to read.

Calibre may be able to download it in a Mobi format (Google calibre recipes). This'll make it much easier to read on your eink kindle.
