Google Translate now supports Slide Out/Split Screen. That'll be nice even if the reading app doesn't, for some quick translations of what you may be reading.

I don't quite understand the slide out but in the Kindle app I can slide my emails from the right and read any while still in a book. I'm on an iPad mini 2 on 9.1

That probably would not be very useful in itself, but implementing that would also include (on iPad Air 2 or Mini 4 or Pro) ability to run side by side in true multitasking mode. This supports a broader range of use cases, for example, having a browser session where you can look up things you are reading about, take notes, compare original language and its translation, etc. |

Evernote now supports multitasking. For me that was probably more important than reading apps, at least it is easier to copy/paste now. For example, the Kindle app doesn't support sharing except with FB, Twitter, Goodreads, so copy/paste has to be used for everything else.

Not that it ever worked correctly, but Nook app no longer supports Split View and Slide Over with the latest update. I guess you could call that a 'bug fix'.

GoodReader now supports Slide Over and Split View.
BTW, Nook removed the feature in a recent update. Not much of a loss there, it did not work very well. |
