OK Kobo out then...

Any suggestion for other eReaders using the epub format? I want to buy in the USA within 100 miles of DC in a B&M store. Like the PW have the lights & be e-ink.

Did you check with Politics & Prose in DC (B&M bookstore) to see what they currently stock for Kobo readers? As I said earlier they've normally carried them in the past.

The only other readers you're likely to find in a B&M store is a Nook, which you said you didn't want.

Kobo also has a store finder that might give you more B&M indie stores near you that you can check with..

Katie1, I live in Tennessee and bought my kobo aura h2o from chapters.ca
It ended up being $151 for shipping and everything, this is about 30 bucks cheaper than the retail on it in the us. All you have to do is use paypal to check out and it will convert it to US dollars for you. Mine arrived in like 4 days, if you are going to buy a kobo chapters.ca is definitely the way to go. If you aren't interested in a nook, I would definitely recommend kobo for epub reading.

Why do you want to physically want to walk into the store to buy it when you can order it online through the Chapters site? That doesn't make any sense to me. You get the warranty, which is only 90 days usually anyways, you benefit from a higher US dollar, so why?

With your above restrictions your answer is going to be none. You can't buy an epub reader with your criteria.
