If you use Calibre, go to EDIT book. Look at the "title page". You will need to find two lines. One with viewBox= and one with <image width=
I am not sure the actual numbers are important BUT the numbers I viewBox must be as lease as big as image width.
Example:
ViewBox="0 0 410 540
<image width="410" height =500
Has worked every time. (So far) reguardless of the image size (819x1376)
Hope this helps
any other tips are welcome,e
Thanks for the tip... I seem to have made this work by resizing the cover image to 600x800, and then editing the EPUB title page so that the ViewBox and <image> are both set to use 600 x 800. I tried some other resolutions, but 600x800 is the only things that works reliably for me.

Could you try this "workaround"?

1) Uninstall Kindle app.
2) Download and install the latest Kindle for iOS 5.0
3) Download some of Personal ebooks from Cloud (covers should be visible)
4) Do not close Kindle app during below operation.
5) Activate Airplane mode in iOS (turn off network access)
6) Close Kindle app
7) Turn off Airplane mode.
8) Open a Kindle app.
9) Covers should be still visible.

After several hours of researching possible workaround I found this curious solution:

If you experience problem with disappearing covers install this free app "Battery Doctor": https://itunes.apple.com/nz/app/batt...446751279?mt=8
and run:
1) Memory -> Boost
2) Junk -> Clean up cache.

You should regain some disk storage and covers thumbnails in Kindle for iOS 5.0 should be visible again.

I have the same problem as you, this may be a bug in Kindle iOS9 version. However, I think I have found the solutions based on the tip of @Qubezo:

- Add the books to Calibre
- Go to the Calibre Library folder in Windows Explorer to edit the cover (The same for Mac). After that save the new books to disc and copy them to Kindle via iTunes.

The point is When you edit the cover, make sure that the width:height ratio must have "no more than 2 numbers after the decimal point".

For example, in my Harry Potter series, the first book cover size is 1088x1600 (the ratio is 0.68), loaded fine; but the other 6 books have the cover size of 1088x1602 (0.67915...), failed to load. I edit all of them to 1088x1600, then every covers load fine.
I did the same thing for other books, I edit the cover with the ratio of 0.63, 0.65, 0.72... All the books have covers again!

I hope this solution will help. And I hope Amazon or Apple will fix this in iOS10
