Looks like my credit cards are safe. Nothing entices me.

My thoughts exactly. I was hoping for a smaller than 6" tablet with a 4:3 aspect ratio. Or even a 6" with that ratio. Or even an updated hd 6".

To my mind these new tablets are SC editions. (For Super Crappy).

For a 7 or 8 inch, $39 is about as low as I've seen.

I think they're high on the 10 inch.

The only difference would be the Amazon warranty is better, but you can buy extended warranties for the other tablets.

They are slightly overpriced compared to the cheaper Asus tablets right on Amazon.
Price might be fair if you value some of the added services.

The real standouts are the streamers.
Alexa on the Fire TV at $99 will keep that line rolling merrily along.

Wow, I thought they were supposed to be inventive...
$244 for the 10" ads free(since we wouldn't have to deal with the ads on another tablet) or
I can spend less than $150 for probably the same quality.

Didn't the first iPad have better resolution than these?

No.
the Ipads started at 1024x768.
Which is sub-HD.

Where these tablets are going to run into resistance is with the lowend WinTabs: similar screens, lower prices, plus full Win10.

I'm tempted by the new Fire TV box or Fire TV stick (now available with voice remote). It'd be more convenient for watching Amazon Prime movies/shows than hooking up my 6" Fire HD via HDMI, which is how I've been watching on the TV.

It's nice that Alexa's now available on Fire TV. We'd use that feature often to ask movie trivia questions. I do have an Amazon Echo, but it's in another room.

I'm hoping Alexa will work with the stick through the phone app so I can test it before buying the voice remote.

But if I didn't have the stick, the $49 bundle is killer.

Yeah Asus makes pretty nice Lower end tablet for android, the screens are what sinks these, pretty horrible for a tablet in 2015

With the iOS and Android Prime Video apps able to download videos now, one less compelling reason to go the premium Fire tablet route for some folks.

Amazon should stop the iPad camparisons with what they offer now.
