No one needs to be a moderator to edit their own posts.

You are forever able to edit your own posts. I can still edit my very first post made almost 5 years ago. So that "reserved" post would enable him to keep adding content to it as more people post what changes or problems are encountered in the patch. Forever.

But we do need a moderator to change the topic to Kobo Desktop 3.17.7. If the next firmware is not 3.17.7, then this thread is just going to be a confusing mess of nonsense more so than it is now.

The basic lesson is that people should NOT create firmware release threads until the firmware actually is released.

It was just a virtual release...

This is usually a sign that a firmware release is coming soon.

I haven't seen any links yet, and modifying previous links didn't work.

Interestingly, the .exe file is 7.5 megabytes smaller than the 3.17.0 .exe. This has happened before, the 3.6.0 .exe went from 130 mb to 49 mb.
Desktop software is not firmware.

Thread title got my hopes up for nothing.

Yes, you're right, I can see it now. I know for that option, you basically limit time for users to edit their posts, but also could choose that there's no time limit.

On most forums there is time limit, so I wrongly assumed that it is so here also.

Actually, this has turned out to be one of the cleanest releases ever.

While Kobo may have managed to not fix any existing bugs, they haven't introduced any new ones.

That is very nice. Do you know if the newest Obok works with it Desktop 3.17.7?

Is that for sure, mate? I'm noticing degraded behaviour in the most recent firmware over selecting words or phrases. May not be considered a bug, as such, since it still works (eventually), but it's definitely something that didn't happen in the previous f/w.

Edited:
Oh, sorry, was I typing in invisible ink again? Must stop doing that.

Yes, because only the desktop software was updated, not the firmware, causing a lot of confusion. Several in beta have stated they haven't heard of 3.17.7 firmware yet even for testing, which means if it will be a release number, it won't be for quite awhile yet.

And by that time, this thread will be cluttered with pages of useless posts having nothing to do with the actual firmware.
