I always leave the Wifi on on my Voyage. It's a 3G model and that's always on if I'm not near Wifi, although more often than not when I'm away from home I don't take the Voyage with me unless I'll be gone a while.
I also don't use the automatic light. I keep that feature turned off and my light is always set somewhere between 11 and 13. I've never checked how many hours I get but I typically read 2 or 3 hours a day, often more, and I charge the device on Saturday and usually another time during the week. It almost never gets down as low as 75% full. Of course the gauge is hard to judge that by but I'm very sure it's never gotten close to half full. When I say 75% I'm really just guessing but I think I'm being conservative. It could be as high as 80% when I charge it. I'm just not sure. Anyway I think that's pretty much in line with Amazon's predictions. Of course battery indicators on small devices are notoriously inaccurate so who knows. But I am sure that I'm happy enough with it's battery life. On a related topic, My Kobo Aura seems to be staying at 100% all the time recently. I just finished a book and I don't think I charged it during the reading of that book and it never got below 100%. That's never happened before. It's always gotten reasonably good battery life but nothing like this. I'm guessing the battery indicator has somehow failed. Any thoughts on this? [Edit] I should add that I did reboot it a couple of times to see if that made any difference. It didn't.[/Edit] Barry Last edited by barryem; 09-04-2015 at 04:05 PM. |

You generally need to let the device discharge down to the "low battery" warning in order to accurately calibrate the battery meter. Until you do this the level it shows is pretty meaningless.

I usually do that with a new device. I don't remember but I assume I did that with the Aura when I got it a couple of years ago. It's been just fine the whole time till last week.
Maybe I'll try doing that again if I can get it to come down from 100%. Barry |

I have wifi on at all times on my Voyage. I could never do that on my PW1 and I like having it on all the time. I use wiki and such all the time while reading. I also want my collections and sync and all that to be up to date at all times without constantly having to fiddle with airplane mode.
I also use the auto light. I guess I would be considered a fairly voracious reader, but I haven't timed myself. I charge my Voyage every 2-4 days. It depends on how much I read. I also get OCD about battery being too low so I don't like seeing the battery icon going down really low, it makes me twitchy ![]() So I charge most of the time every other day, 3 days and battery is somewhere guessing at around 30% at that time. If I need to be somewhere, I top it off no matter where it is. Basically, I am finally able to ignore battery life and not have to worry about wifi on or off and all that. I just use the device and plug it in a couple of times a week. It charges really fast so no big deal. |

The estimated time is about 21 hours and you're getting 20? What's the problem? By the way, congratulations for being able to read 8h/day. |

I like to read my books in a series so I will delete a book once I read it. Then if I am ready to start a new series soon, I will load the whole series at once. |
