Go through a full shut down and then power up. It removes the pop-up until a few syncs after. Temporary workaround but if you don't use WiFi much then it should be fine for normal reading use.

P.s. If you don't mind me asking, why switch from an Aura to an Aura H20, I had the impression that they're virtually the same device with the added water resistance on the H20. I'm an owner of an Aura and see no reason to upgrade as of right now.

They are quite different devices - larger screen, better contrast, better frontlighting (IME), the whole banana.

Pardon my ignorance. It appeared to me that the Aura H20 replaced the Aura but I never actually read up on it. Higher res screen and it being larger and water proof seem to be the main differences, I wonder if it's worth updating for that alone for me. Probably not in the grand scheme of things, especially since the 6'' Aura is about the perfect size for my hands.

Thank you for the reply and, again, pardon my ignorance.

The Aura H2O was a replacement for the Aura HD. Both have 6.8" screens nd the same high resolution. But, the H2O users the next generation screen and look better. If you have an Aura HD, the upgrade to the H2O is probably not worth it unless you want a waterproof device. Or just want another ereader.

I read on a Kobo Aura, not Aura HD. The form factor I feel fits me better. Battery life, speed, functionality and connectivity seem to be identical so I don't see a reason to spend that much money for an ereader when my current one works fine. Besides isn't the Kobo Aura a newer device then the Aura HD?

Yes, the Aura is newer than the Aura HD, but the Aura wasn't a replacement for the Aura HD. It was an alternative. If the Aura was to replace anything, it would have been the Glo. But, Kobo continued selling it until recently.

Hmm I see. Well regardless, I'm VERY happy with my Aura so far and don't plan on upgrading soon. If anything I think the upgrade is the Glo HD since it keeps the form factor I find comfortable (6'' as opposed to 6.8''). Still not sure if it's worth it even, I am very fond of the screen on my Aura, text is sharp, contrast is fine as well and the illumination is comfortable for me.

Thank you all for the insight.

Well, thank you all. Powering it off and on again resolved the issue.

@Diruuo: I changed for the screen size and resolution, which is visibly better. I find the device isn't that much bigger (but certainly heavier). I'm not so sure if it's all worth the price bump. And I do miss the flush screen of the Aura. So I say: stick with it!

Out of curiosity what do you exactly mean by 'flush screen'?

On most Kobos, the bezel surrounding the screen is raised off of the glass. This is to accommodate the infrared sensors that operate the touchscreen.

On the Kobo Aura, the touch screen is capacitive, like on a smartphone. There is no need for the bezel to be raised, so the screen is flush (on the same level) with the bezel. Or, in other words, the Kobo Aura has a flush screen.

That is an aspect that I like a lot about my Aura, I just never referred to it as such. Thank you again for the insight.
