@Chaley
No, no, I am sooo new at this, I was trying to understand how to go about it. I am sorry but for those who have a large tecnical knowledge it must be incredible if another person does not understand. I am really a newbie. For example you are all using jargon I do not know, and fair enough I am looking up the words to understand without asking here... (e.g. never heard of tweaks before) In any case as I said in my opening post my level at the moment is such that you should not take anything for granted. I am a total beginner, so I need you to tell me everything step by step, even what seems absolutely obvious to you. Sorry ![]() But I am a fast learner so cheer up ![]() Can I ask the question in another manner? Can you answer me with an example when you have time? Just assume I have a file Hotel on the Corner of Bitter a - Jamie Ford.epub and it is not in Calibre yet, what do I do and where exactly? And what do I obtain in the Calibre library? Folders names? Filenames? ![]() ![]() |

Assuming Calibre is configured to get metadata from the book:
Drag and drop the Book file (epub) onto the book list Or Select add Books: <point it to the book> Or drop the book into the Auto-Add folder (Use the Calibre Configuration: adding books: Auto... (tab) to specify) IF you must use the Get from filename, you need to have a matching (the file name convention being used) Template Your example uses Code:
(?P<title>.+) - (?P<author>[^_]+) |

The original filename is only used to import metadata. Once the book is in calibre, calibe creates files/folders that look like this:
authors/title (id)/title - authors.ext Whatever is in those fields in the library GUI will be used to construct the calibre library filename. If you want to see FN LN in the library GUI but LN, FN in the Box.com file view, I would suggest using the Save to Disk toolbar icon to export copies of your books into your local Box.com folder. See Preferences ==> Import/Export ==> Saving books to disk to configure how they will get saved. Note: the default should be fine, as it uses: author_sort/title/title - authors.ext e.g. using a default setup it should already be in LN, FN |

![]() @Rosy - I was about to suggest that in the first instance you ought to focus on getting what you see in calibre as you want it. Regard the folder and file names in the library folder as an aide-mémoire. The Save to Disk function gives you full control over folder and file names via the use of the calibre's template language - of which chaley is the resident oracle ![]() I guess if you're going to give up living in Sydney, Rome's not a bad second choice - just kidding, but I would choose Verona or Stresa rather than Roma.
