Malware infestation? Corporate monitoring Software?

An App that they have in Common, that does not play nice with the system? or it was just copied-to, not installed properly

Just a plain old borked install (slipstreamed master install) disk.

Or an App that was not uninstalled properly (just deleted from program files) or uninstalled with one of those Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Uninstall (and Mow Your Lawn) utilities [Guilty Once on W7. Wreaked havoc, fortunately I had a very recent Restore Point]

An ex had frequent problems of this ilk due to not doing proper uninstalls. One day I suggested they get a Mac - gosh and begorrah they did. Couple of months later a mutual Mac owning friend cursed me for suggesting my ex get a Mac

I think that i found it in my specific problem, i have a lot of problems lately, programs wont quit, deinstall, install, update and when i tried to install bsplayer free it could not download the codexs, so i thought probably the firewall from zonealarm, i deinstalled this after that i could install bsplayer and tried directly Calibre new update 2.40 and it works, can somebody verify this?
