and did you try
/mnt/sdcard/adobe/resources/fonts
for other readers.

Placing them in the Adobe... folder worked once I switched to the Onyx firmware (which is far superior in every way - love the gadget now)

its my 1st post and i dont even know if its the right thread.

i had an energy sistem ereader pro+ for about 10 days, battery life was awful, trried to upgrade it to a new firmware, but i got it mixed up and actually tried to downgrade it to FW 3 of the pro (while mine was a pro+).
i followed the instructions of the RK Batch Tool v1.7-procedure by energy sistem,
procedure almost finished exvept the last step (the icon never turned to pink), at some point i had to disconnect it and now i m stuck with a frozen screen.
i tried 1.looooong pressing the power button 2.holding the refresh button and pressing reset with a paper clip 3.pressing simultanously refresh-upper right page turn-back. nothing happened.
any suggestions would be much appreciated.
i should note that i have 0 experience with android devices and also with ebook readers, in fact only thing i ever owned is a desktop computer. also excuse my english and i hope that it makes sense.

Dear Greg oire,

1. Why would you downgrade?
The version you should get on your PRO+ is 2.0.0.B
Battery life is fine in that version. Actually the best I came across.

2. If you have no experience (I haden't either) please go trough the wiki:

3. When my ereader PRO+ freeses it usualy helps to plug it in the charger and the unplug. Somtimes some button pressing was involved.

4. Updating to 2.0.0B: mine worked doing it the regualar way. But on the wiki is also an alternative way using a flash card.

Hope this helps, kind of understand your problem. Been there...

i downgraded by mistake, i thought FW 3.0 was the new firmware for the pro+, it actually was an old one for the pro-without-a-+.
i think the problem of the device is that the overall procedure didnt end up normally.

to wake it up i t i tried pressing buttons in combos i ve read about in this site and also some other arbitrary combos, no luck thus far. i also tried to plug it to the charger and to the computer, no luck either. the charging light goes green when its pluged but thats it. and the computer has stopped recognizing it.

i read the wiki but currently i cannot do anything with the device. i see a "usb storage in use" screen and doesnt respond to anything of the aforementioned..

i ve contacted energy sistem service yesterday but i guess it ll take some days before i ll hear from them..



any other ideas/suggestions as how to wake it up?

Don't dispair!

You did the right steps to unbrick it. You will not see anything happening on the device, but still the device is bootloader mode and RKBatchtool will show a green button if the device is connected. Now you can unbrick it with every T62D/Energy Ereader Pro+ firmware you like with RKbatchtool following the instructions on this thread.

i (think i) followed the instructions, no luck.

what i did was: i skipped step 1 which says somethin about "1-Install device's Driver (Read "How to Install Device & Adb Driver")."
i run RKBatchTool, pressed refresh for >10 sec, connected the reader to the computer while still pressing and waited for another 10-15 sec, nothing happenned. the RKBatchTool doesnt see the ereader.

am i missing something?
should i also include step 1?

i should note that the computer in general doesnt see the ereader, only sign of life is that the ereaders light turns green when i plug it...

It will not work without the driver. Even if You don't need ADB you still need to install aforementioned Rockchip-driver from Release_DriverAssitant.zip for RKBatchTool to see your device in Bootloader mode.

Steps:
0) Download the firmware you need, it is supposed to be an *.img file. Probably this version 1. It has to be unpacked. RK Driver assistant and RKBatchtool are included in the firmware download. There is an English pdf in the download describing the procedure too. I found this confusing sincce it is written for another device.
1) Install the driver, reboot if necessary.
2) Run RKbatchtool
3) On the eReader: Press Reset while holding the Refresh button. Keep holding the Refresh button. This and the next step will put the device into Boatloader mode.
4) Connect the device to you computer. Wait 5s, release the Refresh button.
Follow the instructions on the aformentioned page (How to unbrick) Step 8.

If everything worked out well and your ereader is working again I strongly recommend updating to firmware version 2.0.0.b as described here, since the performance especially the battery life is significantly improved with the update.

worked just fine!!

i m going to upgrade it as soon as i got an sd-card, which i dont have at the moment.

i should note that energy sistems support took 5 days to answer to an email i send them and i am very glad i wont find out how much more time it would take them to get the problem solved..

Glad it worked. Update should be working without SD card too. You will probably loose all settings and books so make sure to backup what is dear to you.

i thought i could update to FW2.0.0 through the same procedure you describded but it seems that isnt the case. there are two .img files in the update folder found here: https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Energy_Sistem_Pro+, i i tried to load them both in RK batch tool but it wasnt possible, i got an error message in both cases..
or i just got something wrong

I don't know the content of the zip file since I own a different device but I can guess what went wrong.

Update.zip is under no circumstances to be unpacked and flashed via RKBatchtool!

Just put it as it is into the root folder of your reader or sd card (the root folder is something like e: d: i: f: c and restart the device.

so i just copied the .zip file in the ereader, restarted it and it asked me if i wanted to upgrade.

a problem which persists and i wanted to ask if anyone encoutered it is:
i shut down the ereader and then put it to charge. after a couple of seconds it starts, shows this flashing heart-checkmark and then it goes in the home screen. if i try to shut it down again it does the same thing all over. only thing i can do is put it to sleep. i should note that all of this is happening no matter if its plugged in a charger or to a computer.
anyone had this problem?
any ways of solving it?
is there a big difference in charging quality and/or battery health if a battery is charged while the machine is sleeping vs while its completely off??

As long as the wifi is off it wont make any difference as that's the major battery drain when on standby.

you mean in general or while charging?
main thing for me is: is it a big problem for the batterry if the reader is on while charging? manufacturers instructions say it the machine should be off.
but i cant get it off when its plugged to charger or computer..
