Open the config dialog. It tells you where the database is stored. Note that as of calibre 0.4.84 library1.db is no longer used.

Thanks Kovid, that was it.
I actually needed to back up a version to tell it where the DB was. So I installed 0.4.68 and pointed it to my DB file so it would import that properly. Then I installed the latest 0.4.85 and it worked fine. |

I want to make a back up copy of my calibre library (my computer tends to hate me so better to be safe than sorry). If I understand correctly I only need to copy those two files and it will by like nothing is changed? I do not need to copy book folders?

You need to copy the Calibre library folder (and all its contents). This means you DO need to copy all the library files.
It might also be good to copy the Calibre configuration folder and contents if you want all your preferences to also be saved. |

Ok, thanks wanted to make sure as it was only told to copy those two files, which looked a little strange to me. Nothing mentioned about copying the books themselves.

Ummm... opening and posting on a thread from 2008??? That is like hundreds of versions ago, I wouldn't trust anything written back then versus the version you have now...
