I think they were talking about WhisperNet, KindleFires require a separate subscription to get web access like cellphones.

If you paid that much for it years ago, then you probably got a good deal. One now is probably worth about $100 USD.

I thought you said you couldn't read on small screens? Have you changed your mind?
