I find the time/date works fine for me. I've never had an issue on my 505.

Elnino, the best way to find out if your theory is correct would be to change the time/date settings to US and then try it and see what happens.

I did a test by setting my PC to Eastern Time and I can confirm that the date stayed right. Hopefully Sony will put a country setting in the new firmware to fix this problem.

I'm pretty sure the 505's time is also synced over USB (by eBook Library).

even without using the ebook library software? I wasn't aware that the USB mass storage protocol synced device times as well.

I think it uses IOCTL requests though I'm not sure. I will investigate... later

Well just to add a little fuel to the fire here, ever since the new firmware I have NOT had any problems with this at all, and I have NOT sync'ed up using the eBook Library software. I added two books today, and they showed up with today's date on the Reader under 'Today'. How about that!

I've been having this issue where the entire book count shows up in "Today" in the "Books by Date" view on my PRS-300. The suggestion in this thread fixed the issue for me. I believe I traced the origin of the problem to a "freeze" which required a pin reset for recovery. Maybe I lost the correct date/time at the same moment.

When I checked the device date/time today, I found that it was set one year, one month, and 11 days too early (i.e., 11 Jan 2009 rather than 23 Feb 2010)

I reset it to the correct date/time, connected and unconnected the USB cable (without doing any sort of sync), and the categorizations are now correct in the "by date" view. The connect/unconnect was an essential step. Just resetting the device to the correct date/time was not sufficient.

I might add that I do not use any software on the desktop side. I tried Sony, Calibre, and one or two others and had too much trouble with getting duplicate copies of the same book on the handheld. After I removed duplicate entries, I ended up losing the current page and font context information.

The only books I read are free EPUB and PDF books, so I just copy them from my computer to the "f:\database\media\books" folder on the reader and everything seems to work fine.
