Last night I got so excited responding to the comment about "ugly Kindles" that I forgot to congratulate Tracey on her new Sony PRS 505. So cool. CONGRATULATIONS. May you have many exciting literary adventures with your Reader.

And even though I'm certainly excited about my Kindle, I'm currently plotting how to get other devices. I want a Sony, and I want the one that Hadrien has been teasing us about from Feedbooks, and I've been contemplating getting one of the eBookwise (just because they're so cute), and I'm definitely going to get a tiny computer like unto the EEE PC. Now, what I need is a change of jobs so that I can write all these off as business expenses! In which case I'd also get the large iLiad for PDF viewing. Thanks to Elsi "Addict" and the others for replying and being excited about my new entry-level gadget nerdiness. (Side note: I prefer nerd to geek. A geek is someone you view at a circus sideshow).

Based on replies, I recommended to mom to try Kindle with its 30 day guarantee. I love the "Pimp my Kindle" or "Pimp my ebook reader" idea. When I got my Sony I immediately wanted to decorate it. It looks so very Star Trek and I was thinking of maybe a Star Fleet logo sticker for it. |

I'm too lazy to find the post, but there's a company that let you design your own skins (err... stickers) for the Sony reader. You could surely use a Star Trek logo. And I found a free Star Trek font online if you wanted to create your own graphic, perhaps with name/address, to be part of your sticker.

A Starfleet Logo on the top of the cover would be awesome! But painted on would be best (IMHO). So now that Tracey has a 505 does this mean that Fable Publishing will be releasing LRF eBooks?

I'll soon have LRF ebooks. I downloaded the calibre and book designer software that was recommended to me here, but have not had a chance to fool around with them yet. But soon!

I have loved my PRS505 for almost 2 years. That changed recently. After much searching I finally discovered that Sony charges $280.00 to replace the battery. That is almost what I paid up front for my reader. I am very deflated after much pleasure with my reader. It is asinine that the battery is not user replaceable. Or, is it??????? Only Sony knows!

I have a Sony 505, my brother has a Kindle 2. I don't think the Kindle is ugly so much as it's cheap-looking. That wasn't what made my choice for me (price was a huge factor), but it does affect my opinion of the two devices.
