Then I would progressively close other programs (including, and especially, those in the 'system tray') and do calibre restarts between - ie a process of elimination. Oh - a long shot from the locker room to 9th green - create a new library and copy some books into it -- using calibres copy books option in the book list right click menu. Switch to new library and do a range select. BR |

I have found that if I hit the "number" at the beginning of the row (calibre order) you cannot select a group of rows. You need to click in the first column of the first book you want to select, go to the last book and while holding the shift key down, click in the first column of that book. All should be selected!
Well, it works for me anyway... |

As Goldilocks says - but if not that, and as you infer that selection with keys works, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling your wired (I assume USB) mouse in Device Manager?

but range select with either shift key works normally if I click any other part of the row. clicking only the numbers is tricky so I would never have noticed if not wanting to test deliberately |

I find that I can click on the number for the beginning of a selection and then click on something such as title for the end of a selection and it works! I would like to thank all who have given input to this phenomenon. Great group! ![]() Last edited by K8HW; 05-06-2015 at 08:56 AM. |

![]() You can fix that issue of accidental cell edits via this tweak: To edit a cell you'll have to hit F2 BR |

However, I do have a stupid question! How did you know that you had to hit F2? If you hadn't told me I would be having another bad day! ![]() |

That's an old Windows trick. I've used it for a very long time to rename files :-)

@K8HW - see Keyboard Shortcuts
@copywrite - F2 for 'rename' is not a Windows trick. It's usage predates release of Windows 2.0 by a decade or more, IIRC it was 'formally incorporated' within the IBM SAA/CUA standards in the early/mid 1980's. BR |
