I didn't realise you could remove the book title from the header in kepubs. Has this been discussed many times before and I've managed to miss it? Anyway, thanks for enlightening me

I was thinking that one didn't work anymore, but trying it reminded me why don't use it. It does remove the header, but it only reclaims about half the space. I think I prefer having the title even though it takes a bit more space.

no wonder kobo programming is not up to par. in one instance, the format is CAP every first letter in the keyword (FullScreenReading), and in the other (showPageHeader), it's not.
there is no consistency at all.

Except that I look at those two options and where they are and can understand why they have done that.

This is actually consistent with the conventions of some programming languages where class names and other top-level objects begin with a capital while method and simple variable names begin with lower case.

Edit: Well it might be consistent anyway, to know whether it is actually consistent you would need to look at the naming conventions used in their source code.

If I use the FullScreenReading .conf file with the Kobo Extension Plugin, the right part of the book text are cut off. Changing it from justified to left justified, I could see the whole text for some books but not all.

Disabling header/footer under reading settings didn't work and only by removing the FullScreenReading, it looks back to normal. Anyone knows why?

Yes it is due to a bug in the KEPUB reader. It works fine with the EPUB reader though, and there are ways to work around the kepub bugs either by patching the firmware or modifying the book's stylesheet (if you are sideloading). See "Working around kepub problems in full-screen mode" in this post for more information.

This is a sideloaded epub, no patch, just FullScreenReading=true
widows: 0; orphans: 0; fw 3.11, removed margins and padding in calibre. I do all my books like this. Only read epubs though.

I have done the FullScreenReading=true work....but I do not understand the rest of these instructions. On my H2o many sideloaded epubs skip a line of space whenever a different character speaks. Very annoying to me. Any way I can fix that?

I don't know if it can be entirely fixed but the settings of converting from epub to epub I use in calibre helped a lot. Now I have a jumpy line once in a while, quite rarely actually. Have a look at the tabs for extra css and filter style information (I remove fonts too) in the attachments. I set it like this and then bulk convert 10 books at a time. End result is pretty much always (but not 100%) like in the H2O screen photo above.

WOW.....Thanks so much Chi Cygni. Your explanation and thumbnails will help me and my H2o a lot. I will try to fix some later this evening. Unfortunately my knowledge of Calibre consists of converting files to epub when necessary. Never thought to use the settings. Now I have something new in my toolbox!!

Well here is another Thank You coming your way...I just gave this a try and wholah!! It worked perfectly. My H2o screen looks absolutely the way I want it to look....pretty much like the one in your screen photo.

I'm happy to hear you're happy and that it helped there are other ways of course but this method is easy and enough for my needs.

Calibre can be a little intimidating - but its worth it. I love the shelf handling to create collections, adding series info. There's a Calibre forum on here well worth reading but take it in small chunks ;-)

And anyone with a rough collie as an avatar must be cool!
