That was why I asked if they had seen this issue in both ePub and kEpub formats.

Frankly I'm tired of all the people who at the slightest issue with Kobo jump down their throat and state that all the issues are caused by Kobo. And you all wonder why there is so little interaction with Kobo themselves here....

On 4/19 I contacted Kobo CS about a book I had bought that was defective. Wherever there should have been an italicized word, the word(s) were just missing. The rep I talked to looked at the book, and said she would remove it from my library and give me a store credit within 24 hours. (hah!)

On 4/27, I received an email that they needed a copy of the PayPal receipt, which I sent.

This morning, I get a credit on my PayPal account, not for the $4.06 which the book cost, but for $.41. Yes, I got 41 cents back on a book that costs over 4 dollars.

I also got an email from Kobo teling me of the refund and telling me how much they value my business.

Now, it's possible that this is a book that I used my 90% off 'Friends' coupon on (I bought a bunch of books that day, I don't really remember which book I used the coupon on), but even so, shouldn't I get either the value of the book, or the refund plus another coupon?

I am so mad right now.
I'm a bit confused here about the amount showing on the PayPal receipt for the ebook, the amount showing in Purchase History, the amount initially refunded by Kobo, and the further amount refunded by Kobo.

What amount showed in your Purchase History?

What does that have to do with it? The books I mentioned have screwed up CSS in both kePub and ePub formats. The CSS in the ePub's was literally replaced by some process at Kobo back in the day.

I get it, but there are others here that always seem to be the other extreme as well.

The thing is, as I understand it, Kobo doesn't host epubs. At least, they don't host drm'ed ones. So, if a problem exists in both versions, Kobo is likely not the cause of the problem.

Words running together is NOT caused by errors in the CSS; rather it's error in the (x)HTML coding.

For instance, here is an example from a LIBRARY book that has never seen Kobo.
Code:
<p class="p">“But you’d die. And me too. And everybody on the planet. You<span class="italic">can’t</span>.”</p>
Note the lack of a space between the You and the span.

Code:
span.italic {
	font-weight: normal;
	font-style: italic;
}

p.p {
	line-height: 1.34em;
	font-size: 0.92em;
	margin-bottom: 0.00em;
	margin-top: 0.00em;
	text-indent: 1.09em;
	margin-right: 0.00em;
	margin-left: 0.00em;
	text-align: justify;
	font-weight: normal;
	font-style: normal;
	color: rgb(0,0,0);
}

Does that mean since everyone apparently loves Amazon, Amazon has a lot of interaction here? I am pretty sure the lack of interaction comes from the fact that no major company gives a darn about us.
Kobo alone has a tremendous amount of interaction -- scaled against "major ebook providers having an interaction here on MobileRead".

If anything, MobileRead suffers from overly-protective Kobo apologists... then again, we have those in Amazon colors as well.

I seem to recall that the apologists started popping out of the woodwork shortly after a series of attacks on Kobo, which may have been justified but weren't representative of what other people were encountering.

Wtf ... What is this labelling bullshit - oh he/she's an apologist, and he/she's an antagonist.

Give it a miss!
