Then something is indeed very badly wrong.
![]() Something should always happen when you type "calibre-debug -g" at a command prompt on Windows. There has to be some output ... even if it's just a message that suggests you've typed the command wrong. It may all be moot now anyway. The new version (2.26) has changes that will hopefully fix the issue of hanging at the "Initializing user interface" phase on some Windows systems. |

Still should've seen some sort of command-not-found error, or syntax error or something? |

There have been a small number of inexplicable reports of the 64bit version of calibre suddenly not working - installing the 32bit version has often solved the problem. If you install the 32bit version it will use the existing configuration (e.g. settings, preferences etc) and libraries. The 32bit and 64 bit versions of calibre can coexist on the same computer. The symptoms you have are not typical of 'interference' from anti-virus or other security software, but the only way to prove it is to temporarily disable the Norton Security. In the past one needed to download a special utility from Norton to do that, best thing is to ask Norton support. If you could try that, then it would at least eliminate that issue. In summary First try installing latest 64 bit version If that doesn't fix it try installing 32bit version If that doesn't fix it try disabling Norton If that doesn't fix it try running in Windows Safe Mode with no network Let us know what happens BR |
