My NST is still working fine and honestly, for every ebook I read--I listened to about 8 or 9 books nowadays. I do want to return to reading more on the ebook as I find some books/genre are better suited to reading than listening. I'm going to wait for the release of Kobo HD Glo and see the user reviews. I may also see if there is a great Black Friday deal this year. |

That's fine. But you have to understand, I'm flighty. I may experiment with the Kobo fairly heavily for a week to 10 days, then put it down and read a series of library books on the Kindle and not look at the Glo for a month. I also use my NST w/Glowlight more than than the Glo and I've currently got 2 or 3 books to finish on that. At some point, I'm going to have to make decisions about which eReaders to keep and which ones to sell. Right now the Glo is "on the bubble." The screen looks really good, but my eyes have trouble with it (as mentioned earlier) -- and I can't figure out why. And the other main issue with the Glo is the double and (sometimes) triple tapping -- which can get really irritating. Light tap ... nothing ... little harder tap ... usually it'll work .... or ... Harder tap (actually a "press" and hold), finally it works. I think most folks who use the Kobos swipe instead of tap, but I'm so used to tapping that I can't get used to swiping.
(Rambling, sorry.) |

It should be made clear that I live in the U.S. I think the U.S. is the only country that allows you to check out Overdrive books in Kindle format. |

Yep, US is still the only country that does Kindle checkouts. OTOH, it is (currently, Rakuten's purchase may change things) the easiest way to check out books.
Checkout on overdrive. Select Kindle format. A link to amazon.com opens up, offering to claim the book for your currently-logged-in Amazon account (or you can switch accounts). Then sync your Kindle and download it the same as any purchased book. (Except you can't use the 3G on 3G Kindles.) |

Nope. Your checked-out book gets redeemed, but with a link instead of a code.

But, another thing to note, a PW at $99 is not that much less than a Kobo Glo HD at $129.99 and you get the same screen as the Voyage for a lot less money. The PW/PW2 is not nearly as good as the Glo HD will be. The PW/PW2 might have front light color shifts where the Glo HD will not. Also, you'll get 300ppi where you won't with the PW series. |

(I do agree with rcentros about the Kobo touchscreen sensitivity, by the way...that and having to plug in to the computer to sideload with the Kobo are why I keep using my Kindle)

Yep, you'll see in a post that followed the one you quoted that I will hold off any decision until the Kobo HD Glo comes out. I'm not an early adopter so I will wait for few user reviews and proceed. Yes, if Kindles' font selections are as limited as the Nook's, then that would be huge issue for me. As I mentioned, it's my number one pet peeve. |

I still enjoy my Nook Glowlight. I enjoy the way the case feels and the fact that it's not black. It has its annoying quirks, but I don't think there is an e-ink reader that doesn't.
I've owned the Kobo... Touch (Frozen permanently), mini (works) and the Aura. Apparently my Aura was from the first production and the screen is kind of grayed over and the text appears bluish. I was not happy with it, so it's collecting dust. I have found Kobo lacks customer support, so I'm leery of buying anything else from them. I've decided if it's not something I can return in person, I'm not buying it... I don't need the higher resolution to read text, so I'm happy with my Glowlight. I think you just have to find what feels right to you. Last edited by mycurlylocks; 04-16-2015 at 02:43 PM. Reason: Adding stuff |
