How are we liking "new" Scribd?

Atunah- fortunately you can now eliminate hypenation! To the left of the "Aa" is a small slider button. When the slider is on the left, the text is justified and hypenated; text is not justied or hypenated when the slider is on the right. Perfect!
I don't see a eay to change the margins or line spacing, but being able to eliminate hyphens is more important to ne.
I've updated on my phone and may finally update my tablet.
Great update by Scribd, at least for books. Looking forward to seeing how the audiobooks have improved.

Unfortunately, it looks totally horrific with not justified. Unreadable. Yikes. I have so little text on my Fire per line as it is, this looks like a monster has eaten half of the book off on the right. And in a totally zig zag erratic manner.

Atunah- it is sonewhat jagged, especially compared to Kindle, but overall I find that less distracting than hyphens. Hopefully they will fine-tune the app, but this is a big step forward in terms of being able to modify at least a couple display options.

Yes I def. noticed that the font is darker. Which is great!

Oddly enough, one book that I tried on my Nexus 7 had the 6 fonts, but that same book on my Fire 6 did not.

That's odd. I'll have to keep an eye out for it. I haven't put it on my Nexus yet, still had the old version there. So on my Fire, I checked about 10 books, so far they all had the 6 fonts.

I do agree on that, this is a really big release for them as far as features go. So that is a good sign. It makes me at least hopeful and I'll stick around with the service for a while longer. Hoping I'll get normal margins back.

Ok, something weird is going on with the font choices then. I put 3.10 initially on my android phone, it showed the 6 fonts and the other options. Then I transferred it to my Fire6. Opened a book, got all 6 fonts.

Now I just put the update on my Nexus 7.2, It was still on 3.6.2.
I already had a book on the device when I updated. Same book I have on my fire and phone right now. But on the Nexus, I only get 2 font option, showing with a switch like the one for monster eaten right alignment.

Let me just say before I play more that the font is so much darker now on the Nexus, that really was a problem. Because I can now change the shade of beige of the backround, it also makes the font pop more. Its not so dainty anymore. And between the 2 fonts I get on the Nexus, I still like the original one best.

A different book also already on the device gives the same only 2 options. I will now put a new book on to see.

Overall though besides the margins, huge improvement. Page turns are now super smooth, font is darker with much better contrast due to the sliding scale backround. And on my Nexus the line spacing is tighter than it was on 3.6. I think some had issues with that.


eta: uninstalling the app and re-installing gives me the 6 fonts. Unfortunately, I know can't open the books anymore that I had on the device, I even deleted them first, cleared cache before uninstalling the app, but those books are now not opening. Its not all of them I had on it seems, but at least 2 so far and the one I was reading. Maybe it got stuck somehow. Its ok, I'll read that on my Fire. But it fixed the font issue at least.

Scribd just added a lot of audio books from Penguin Random House, including some that were in my library wish list! I'm ecstatic!

I've had the oddest thing happening on my Scribd app. I get the popup in the screenshot attached anytime I change over to another device and it tries to sync. It happen on my Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire 6.

Anyone else have this happen?

I don't recall if it had the 1969 date, but I get the do you want to sync to page 1 message from time to time on my Fire with 3.9.0.

Seeing I was born in 1977 It's impossible not to mention said book was published in the 2000s and then there is the whole technology wasn't as advanced in 1969 so unless there is alternative universe that pop up is just freaky!

I get those popups all the time, but not with a date. I read on my Fire and just to see, I opened it on my Nexus. Same book on and sure enough, it tells me I am currently on 73, however, it looks like you read to page 71 on your android today at 12:00 am. Pretty sure I was out cold already by 12 am this morning

I am actually on page 75 on my Fire. So its close with the syncing. This is kind of what kindle does too though. They ask you if you want to jump in case you want to stay where you are on the device you are. Maybe if someone else reads the same book.

Haven't seen a year yet though, that is a bit amusing. I know you haven't been able to read for a while because of stuff going on in your life, but I didn't think it was that long.

I uninstalled and reinstalled on my Nexus 7 and still see only 2 fonts. Do all the books you open have a choice of six fonts? Can you tell me a book I can try that has six?

I get six fonts in "The Man in the High Castle" by Philip K. Dick


So far in limited usage I've had the six font option in all books I've tried. If you'd like me to try a specific book let me know.

This is the case using the apps on my Fire (direct download from Scribd), 2012 Nexus 7 (Play store) and iPhone.
