Hm, that is really weird. Any idea why that could be the case? Here is what Calibre is returning:

No idea, that is a generic connection error. It can happen because of anything rangingfrom a firewall/antivirus program blocking calibre to network misconfiguration to the server being down

I had the same problem. Neither of the two recipes for The Economist would work anymore. I started to think The Economist had blocked my IP for some reason. In the end I installed TunnelBear, "relocated" to an overseas country, and voila, Calibre successfully downloaded the latest issue...

Appears to be blocked based on IP. In the USA, not the entire geo-location.
