I think you would have to specify all the options you want on the command line itselg; but if you make a batch file which takes one parameter (the name of the input file) you'd be all set.

You could also try using the 'Folder' device. Since that acts a device as far as the core of Calibre is concerned you can set the preferred formats order just like you could for a real physical device

You're right. The command line doesn't pick up prefs from the app. I will play with this. Thanks!

Setting output format prefs for the "Folder" device does indeed work, though it's convoluted for my purposes. The restrict_output_formats tweak is straightforward for my needs. Thanks anyway!
