Calibre allows two items to be marked as cover. A bitmap and a text. Whereas all HW eReader I've tested could not interpret the bitmap as a cover. So, it is possible to mark an image as a cover, although useless in real life (but EPUB standards allow it), it is not possible to "unmark" it, and it's possible to mark a text file to act as a cover - supported in real life. My confusion remains, as I don't see the point in having two items marked as cover, and no "unmark" action - like the dirt in one of Murphy's law, it only go from one object to another during cleaning ![]() Quote:
![]() 1. two different items (one for each option in standard) may be marked as cover - useless as there is only one cover and unless the eReaders support only one type it may confuse them 2. there is no "remove", "uncheck", "un-cover" etc function once activated. |

Did you miss the part about calibre's ebook editor not being an epub-only editor? I'm assuming you must have... otherwise you wouldn't be claiming that the ability to mark an image as a cover is "useless in real life." It's only useless in your little corner of "real life."
