Thanks Dickloraine, I've looked in Adobe Digital Editions, the header problem is still there. Can I ask, if the header is set in the css, does epub over-ride this by default? (I have a Nook, and by default it over-rides my code, but it does give the reader the option to use the 'publishers default'). Or is it just a case of leaving it to the reader, to fiddle about with their device settings?

I hope to hear back from you,

Thanks

Zoe

One way around this would be to not use the header tag. Use the p tag and assign a class to it. You can use the search and replace functionality in Sigil or Calibre to do this. This way your headers are displayed like you have specified.

This seems to be difficult for the poster to grasp. And it is exactly right. There is no reason to choose a Mobi 7 or a KF8 format for publication: both will be available, and the correct version will be supplied to the customer.

(I let the book convert on the KDP site. I don't use KindleGen, nor do I use Kindle Previewer for this purpose, but only for checking the converted book in various emulations.)

Are you using h1 for headers? If so try h2 instead and see how it looks. You can control the size of h1 with CSS but Kindlegen may not honor it.
