Since I wouldn't use those features, I prefer not having them clutter up the UI/menus. |

Kindle doesn't have hyphenation and as far as I know it is always justified. This really bugs some people (me included but I am a typography nerd). But there are hacks to fix this problem. Software-wise, I think Kobo is the best. |

I believe the Kindle assumes justification but will not override the alignment specified in the CSS. So all you really need to do is edit every single book... (or Modify EPUB can do a batch Embed custom CSS).

That's correct. If no justification is specifically specified in a book, the Kindle will display it fully justified, but if the book explicitly specifies (for example) left justification, the Kindle will honour that.

The All-new Basic Kindle (again ) Now With Touch... a/k/a KT2 (Kindle Touch 2). For ~$80 you get a touchscreen Kindle with all the standard Kindle amenities, but no frontlit display and somewhat lower resolution. But you might want a PW if the display matters to you (for comics?) -- check the specs on Amazon if that is a factor. Last edited by eschwartz; 02-24-2015 at 12:36 PM. |

Frontlight actually matters quite a bit, if you have $120 go for it. You might think that it doesn't matter (I used to think the same), but improvement is really great. It has no strain on the eye since it is not backlight and the screen is fixed. About Kobo readers, answer to your question is easy to give. Your friend owes you $120, Kobo Aura is $129. Tell her to buy you the Aura, and than give her $10. Aura is one of the best readers out there. Not very pricey like Voyage and H2O, and not slowly going out of circulation like Glo. On Kindle side, there is only Kindle Paperwhite 2 with special offers suitable to your budget. But I am telling you again, screen light is kind of important, really important. It is one of those things you don't know how great they are until you have them. I still think that Kindles are bad typographically and since they are reading devices... I know that there are hacks, but there shouldn't be any need for hacks. This lackluster attitude of Amazon towards typography makes me dislike them. Although the new typeface (Bookerly) they commissioned from Dalton Maag is quite good for eInk, maybe there is still hope for Amazon. Last edited by GERGE; 02-24-2015 at 01:01 PM. |

Someone mentioned Amazon's Kindle Unlimited program. I doubt that it is available in Pakistan.

Having read on both my own non-lit device and a friend's borrowed PW2, I can say with absolute certainty... that some people don't give a hoot. In a very informed manner, mind you. Quote:

I would rather prefer epaper/eink tech, because otherwise I may as well read books on my phone. So it seems that for that, the consensus would be a kobo device or Paperwhite 2. Where are you checking prices? I cannot find this price for the Aura anywhere... |

It looks like the code PERKOPOLIS is still active for 10% off an Aura (at least in the U.S.).
