"Freely download" -- there are plenty such iOS/Android apps. But getting people to use them is the issue.

If you have iOS 8, you already have iBooks as it is forced upon the user by Apple. The problem is that it's a space waster as you cannot delete it.

Of course there are, yes. My point was that if you have a dozen different ePub 3 books with multimedia content you can use them all in the same app - iBooks. You don't need to download a different app for each one, which will clutter up your screen.

That may be a problem, but it isn't the problem preventing people from buying and reading EPUB3 multimedia ebooks.

They should have put a trial version on their website...

I see a button on it that says "preflight check". It doesn't look like something that would let you copy and paste from like a website and retain the formatting either because it's theme based.

That's just basing it off the screenshots though.

The problem is that Apple supplies iBooks with iOS 8 and that's what people will use. It's not fully ePub 3 compliant as it's iBookspub compliant. So you will have to write code specifically for iBooks most of the time.

There is a pretty good looking app for iOS called Gitden Reader that handles ePub 3.

The current version of Adobe RMSDK (which incorporates Readium SDK) supports multimedia (on tablets/desktop obviously), as well as many ePub3 features (and let us not forget, 'strengthened DRM workflows'). There are a number of reading apps that use that, including Nook, Kobo, Bluefire, Mantano, Aldiko etc.

Are all these reading apps updated to use the latest SDK?

On your desktop/laptop, you do not want any version ADE (or RMDSK) later than 2.x or someday you could be downloading ePub with the new DRM and then you'd be screwed big time.
