Which android tab is best ?
I'd recommend a Samsung with an AMOLED screen for the best readability. I have the 7.7 but they are hard to find now. Tony |

I don't think the OP will find one of those for $60.

I just found the cheapest tablet ever. The Datawind Ubislate 7ci retails for $38. Not much performance but very cheap and it runs Android.

Another cheap tablet is the Azpen 7" currently on sale at TigerDirect for $50. By the way Azpen also makes a 13.3" Android device.

I wouldn't go for a really off brand, however cheap. I've done it in the past and it's not worth it - lots of headaches and in the end a waste of money. I'd go for a factory refurb of a known brand; maybe the first Nexus 7, for instance.
ETA: I just googled and saw one online for $105 and some change. Last edited by pendragginp; 02-05-2015 at 06:44 AM. |

Agreed. My first Android was a Neuropad at under 100 UKP. It was effectively useless and had no second hand value on eBay. In the UK I bought a new Nexus 7 v1 for around 100 UKP just over a year ago for my wife. It turned out she would be happier with the v2 which has wireless charging and we sold the v1 on eBay for over 60 UKP about a month ago. Stay with the known names and you have items you can re-sell when you want to upgrade. Tony |

But then you are not the OP nor are you looking for a cheap Tablet.

Does that negate my advice? Tony |

In my opinion, your $60 budget is too low to get anything except bottom of the barrel devices. For a few dollars more you will find a much better selection and better performance. If I were buying today and price was a major consideration, I'd buy one of the brand-new Kindle Fire HD 6 tablets, which are on sale for a limited time for $84, reduced from a regular price of $99. I don't know how long the sale will last but probably not long, so if you're interested I'd buy today. Amazon offers a free 30 day return period, so if you find something you like better you can send it back for only the cost of shipping. Or, you could simply search Amazon for "Android tablet" The first device that comes up is a quad-core KitKat tablet for 55 $. It has 4 stars out of 1700 ratings.
In my opinion, generic Android tablets are better than the Kindle variety. Last edited by Jmirko; 02-08-2015 at 02:13 AM. Reason: Corrected typo |

On the UK Amazon the second one down with the big rating has ten satisfied and ten unhappy purchasers if you sort from the newest entry and look at the first two screens.
Mr DaleDe. Please don't attack me for suggesting that buying cheap may not be the best option for the OP. I am simply trying to get him/her to realise there half the people who bought this particular tablet regretted it. Tony |

However, I wasn't trying to suggest a specific model, but rather using Amazon ratings as a good way to narrow down the choice. Reading online reviews is a good next step. One can make an enlightened choice in an hour or two. |

+1 for Amazon ratings. But try to get the newest to the top of the list.
Amazon can be a bit like TripAdvisor at times. An unusual algorithm to keep the listings fresh! |
