I updated the firmware using the reader software and it worked fine for a week. But the very first time after I plugged it into the computer to add another book all hell broke loose and it froze and has been in this infinite reboot loop since. Basically Sony's newest firmware bricked my device and they wont support it in any way. |

I would be on the phone to Sony asking to speak to supervisor.

Now, this is why I never updated something (with the exception of my very first CD-writer, well, I had to, back then in the prehistory of burning, each new FW actually added something good, in my case DAO).
Now, I go to the physical shop, test the "tester", find what's good and bad, draw the line and buy it or not. I won't fall for "this (nice) feature will be implemented in a future FW upgrade" and stuff. My T1 worked as intended since day 1, so why upgrade it? To find newly added bugs and other "features"? If a system works, said Murphy, ... ![]() |

I had a similar problem .. taking out the sd card allowed the boot process to complete i surmise it was trying to repeatably read the bad sd card ... after that I re formatted the sd card and put it back in .. it worked for me

Yeah I think calling back and getting a supervisor is a good idea.
bla -- I never really kept more than 15 books at a time on the ereader. Therefore I never used an SD card since day 1. I found it performed much faster with fewer books. |

You just learned why I always put all side loaded books onto uSD card. (often easy fix by removing card)
