When you use Save to Disk on two (or more books) that would result in exactly the same file path (because your save to disk template, is, for example, {rating}/{title} and they have the same rating and title, then instead of overwriting one with the other, calibre will add a number in brackets to the end.
That number will increase with the number of such conflicting files, it should not be adding multiple brackets, however, that sounds like a bug. I will look at it when I have a moment. Note that exactly the same file path means everything upto the file extension. Last edited by kovidgoyal; 01-24-2015 at 08:50 AM. |

You re not looking at an active Library (this is probably a unused default Library)?
There should be a number of Authors folders in the EXACT same place you found the metadata.db (there should have been a line in the Authors list you show for each folder. Is there any entries in the Books table? |

@theducks
"You re not looking at an active Library (this is probably a unused default Library)? " You are right. At one point I had the library set to my D: drive and somehow it got sent back to My Documents folder. I never looked at the date of the file I was using. I didn't see anything strange though. I think Kovid has a point, I can almost see one single "(1)" but not a bunch of them....really weird. Thanks Kovid. A big thanks to all for your interest and support. |
