Moon Reader is not properly handling ePub. I would not use it. It's a mess.

That is great it works for you. This is the first time I have had issues with calibre. I know it is still a work in process but it is far better than having to have a lot of different ebook readers for the different formats or having to buy the same book in the different formats. And now that I know have to make the edits I am a happy camper.

How are you fixing the TOC in Edit TOC? I think we need to nail down the issue so Seany can be aware how to fix it. I got my hands on a book that does this but I've yet to other than to manually add Chapter 1, Chapter 2 to fix it.

in calibre right click on the book, then click on edit book. The book has to be epub or azw3 format. Once in the edit of the book then at the top is the tools menu, from there Edit Table of Contents.
As for as edit the TOC that is something that I just had to figure out. If the book has a TOC but it is not pointing to the correct files then it is just going down the list and pointing them. I the ones I did there was a TOC and the pointers where missing so I clicked on the correct the TOC and followed down the files to find the correct ones. It is slow but can be done with some practice. |

Okay I went and change the Names of the chapters in the books to numbers so
Story Title became 1 and so on and Moon+ picked up changes and shows the numbers. So for some odd reason it's not picking up headers that are not Chapter or have number or the number as words such a one or two. This is not a coding issue this is an app issue. Did this just start with v3 or did it do it before v3? |

Moon+ Reader is a good reader, but it ignores many simple things.
1) It doesn't understand margin-left and margin-right values. Nicely designed books somehow looks wierd or just regular. 2) Sometimes it show embedded fonts properly, sometimes it just doesn't. (Different books, though) 3) New file doens't means new page. A splitted page get "connected" to the previous page but with a horizontal line. If this splitted page is identified in the TOC, it then starts as a new page. |

Sorry to revive this old thread, but it is worth posting that the original problem has now been solved. Mobi and azw3 files store toc links as offsets. Both Calibre and Kindleunpack assumed that the offset will point to a tag with an id attribute, which they used as an "anchor" for the TOC entries when converting. However, it has recently become apparent that for some books this assumption is incorrect. With these books, the converted TOC entries would point to the file as a whole and not to any particular point in the file.
Kovid has fixed this in Calibre and KevinH has indicated that an update of Kindleunpack this coming weekend will also contain a fix. You will need to reconvert any affected books to epub from the original mobi or azw3 file. This is all documented in this thread: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=259557 |
