I use Moon+ as my reader on KF6. However sepia looks really good on the Kindle reader. The green theme hurts my eyes. I'd love a grey background instead.

The Kindle Fire 6 has the best text for smaller print. Amazon did something that that makes the text rendering on the KF6 so sharp and crisp that it rivals tablets with higher PPI. It's the perfect tablet made for reading.

Well my KF finally shipped. I ordered it on the 31st but with New Years etc. it shipped out this afternoon. Do PDF's read any better on the KF than they do on the other Kindle Ereaders? Or is it still a good idea to convert them for readability?

My Fire arrived in the mail today. I'm finding it has a bit more of a learning curve than the PaperWhite but I'm enjoying the new features.

How are you getting along with your Fire HD6 now that you've had it for a few more days?

I was very surprised at the amazing screen clarity and its usefulness for reading and watching videos. This HDMI adapter works great if you want to send movies from the Fire to a TV.

I'm having a ball with it. As I said there is a bit more of a learning curve to navigating around to do things on it than with the PaperWhite (IMO) but then there are more things to do with it than with Kindle e-ink tech. as well. I agree about the screen clarity. It's great and there is no signal lag either. No buffering of the video. No stops and starts that last for minutes.

In some ways it's even better than the PaperWhite in that I can easily access the books that I have stored at Dropbox (purchases from Smashwords sales) without a hassle. Even on the PaperWhite I've had trouble doing that, but all I have to do with the Fire is go to the site and choose which book I want to download.

I use the Dropbox App on mine which has my entire Calibre Library. I can grab any book at any time. No need to surf to the site.

Interesting. Thanks for the link. I didn't know there was an app for it that worked on the Fire. I have found that they have Pandora as well as a word processing app, both of which are free at Amazon. And there is "Angry Birds" (also free) there too.

What apps they don't have you can sideload. They all usually work fine. I own all the Angry Birds from Amazon. Not that I play it anymore. I like the old version better then they made it too hard. I play Farm Heroes Saga and Candy Crush Saga sometimes.

Any ebook reader apps with the exception of Overdrive you will have to sideload as Amazon doesn't like the competition.

Candy Crush can be a nice challenge. I guess you can't blame Amazon too much. They want their software to be used on their equipment just like any other manufacturer.

There's a word-processing app preinstalled on the Fire HD 6, too. It can be accessed on the top menu (swipe right to left). It's labeled "Docs." You can create .doc, .xls, and .ppt files.

Thanks for the tip. I thought it was just a way to access books bought elsewhere (or found at places like MR and PG) that you had uploaded to the cloud.

It's easy to miss Docs! It's odd that there's no app listed for it in the Settings>Applications section on the Fire. It doesn't show up on the carousel either. I'd like to be able to add a Docs icon to my home screen, along with the other apps I use most often.
